In addition to this security patch, there are two additional entries in this changelog. The company has also fixed the screen flickering issue. That issue occurred while users were swiping the display to unlock it.
On top of that, the company has improved system stability of the OS, in general. A number of smaller bugs have also been squashed via this update.
Android security patch for February is the most notable change in this OnePlus 6, 6T update
An Android security patch for February is probably the most notable change in this OnePlus 6 and 6T update. Many users will appreciate the screen flickering issue fix as well, even though it occurred at a very specific time only.
This update actually follows the Open Beta 5 update which arrived for the two phones only a couple of days ago. That beta update brought quite a few changes to the two devices, changes that may follow in the next stable build.
The company has fixed app crashes while installing and updating, removed the white bar below the keyboard, brought a new version of Zen Mode, improved the Phone app, and so on.
It’s always nice to see that a company is updating devices that are over a year old. In fact, both of these phones were announced back in 2018. The OnePlus 6 is almost two years old at this point.
Both of these devices got update to Android 10 a while back
Both of these phones were updated to Android 10 a while back. That update process did not go as planned, as the company had to halt the update at first. Quite a few bugs were spotted in it.
It took OnePlus a while to fix all that, but the next iteration was much better. The two phones have been rocking the latest version of Android for a while now.
OnePlus is expected to push Android 11 to the two devices as well, at some point. Android 11 will launch later this year. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, which haven’t been announced yet, will probably get the update first.
The OnePlus 6 and 6T are both still quite good performers. Even almost two years after its launch, the OnePlus 6 is keeping up in the performance department, which is always nice to see. Android 10 only helped in this department.
We’re not sure when will the next stable update arrive for the two phones, but you can expect it in the near future, with some changes from the latest beta updates.
